Government of India Launches the Digital India Program 

The Indian government introduced the "Digital India" initiative in 2015. It was established to transform India into a knowledge-based economy and society.


The goal of the Digital India programme is to empower India both socially and economically. The government opted to implement E-Government, Public Internet Access Program, Broadband Highways, and Universal Access to Mobile Connectivity. All of this contributed to the awareness of digital marketing in India.

Jeff Weiner, LinkedIn's then-CEO, estimated that as of April 24, 2012, the country's user base had increased by 300% over the previous three years.
